Translational Models & Therapeutic Targeting

How does a mechanism become a therapy?

The question

Many findings from cell culture and animal models do not survive translation into the clinic. We ask which of our mechanisms hold in the human system.

Our approach

As a surgically led group we work directly with human tissue from the operating room: organotypic cultures, neuronal co-cultures and in vivo models bridge mechanism and application.

What we have learned

The established 3D and co-culture models allow neural invasion and nerve–tumour signalling to be measured under controlled conditions — on the material of the disease itself.

Where we are going

We are expanding the model platform to prioritise candidates from all programmes under comparable conditions.
