Privacy notice
Principle
This website sets no cookies and embeds no content from third parties. Fonts, images and logos are served from our own server. We measure visits with our own analytics software, as described below; no data is passed to third parties.
Visit statistics
To understand which pages are read and how people find us, we use Matomo, an open-source analytics tool. We host Matomo ourselves on stats.thedemirlab.com, on the same server as this website. Your data does not leave it, and Matomo’s makers receive nothing.
The measurement is designed so that you cannot be identified:
- No cookies. Nothing is stored on your device, and you are not recognised on a later visit.
- Shortened IP address. The last two bytes are removed before anything is stored, so 203.0.113.42 becomes 203.0.x.x. The shortened address is also what Matomo uses internally, which is why we can only tell the country a visit came from, not the city.
- Do Not Track is respected. If your browser sends this signal, no visit is recorded at all.
- Limited storage. Individual visit records are deleted after six months. Only aggregated figures, such as the number of visits per month, remain.
What is recorded: the pages viewed, the time of the visit, the shortened IP address, the referring page, and technical details such as browser, operating system and screen size. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the reach of our research communication, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Because no cookies are used and the data is anonymised, your consent is not required.
How to object
Switch on „Do Not Track“ in your browser settings. We evaluate this signal, so no further visits of yours will be recorded. You can also object informally using the contact details in our legal notice.
Server log data
This section will be completed: details of the hosting provider, server logs and retention periods, the controller, and your rights under the GDPR.
Contact by email
If you contact us by email, your details are processed to handle the enquiry. Please do not send medical records or other health data by unencrypted email — use the secure channels of the hospital instead.
